UFCA Player Development Pathway

  • YoungSTAR (3-6)
  • Development Squad (7-16)
  • Academy Squad (7-16)
  • UFCA Scholar (16-19)
  • Elite Under 23 Squad (16-23)

Our player development sessions are for players aged between 7 & 16 (School Years 3-9), our sessions will be made up of development squad and academy squad players. The academy squad is made up of players that have demonstrated a high level of ability and have been highlighted as players that are either close to the next level of Pro Academy Football or have recently been involved with Pro Academies.

All of our players are encouraged to be technically superb, creatively minded, brave in possession and independent thinkers whilst also playing under the clear UFCA ethos and culture of quick flowing, attacking football with a clear emphasis on always giving 100% effort. The latter is a non-negotiable tool which we demand from every person involved within our academy structure.

Our culture demands that we develop the person before the player, we really do believe that a better person makes a better player. Our players and parents are expected to be respectful of the facility, our environment and our opposition, they are expected to be punctual, fully prepared and 100% committed to the process of development and learning.

Over the last 6 years we have outstanding success at assisting players on their football journeys. We have had over 50 players progress on to pro clubs with the most successful player being Manasse Mampala who has just signed a professional contract with Everton FC and will start the season in the u23s following an outstanding 2 years in the u18s. We have got UFCA players in clubs all across the north of England. We have helped players improve and progress from the B or C team for their Junior Clubs in to the A team. We have provided a cushion for players that have been released from Pro Academies and allowed them to continue to develop at a very high standard with full time coaches at what is a very difficult time for any young footballer to go through. We also provide a long term programme with our u19s football and education scholarship programme and our Elite u23s programme. It is becoming much more recognised and acknowledged that players can still find their way into pro clubs beyond 16 years old as we have proven with Tyler Walton, Mark James, Junayd Pandor, Usaama Yate, Nath Firth and Desmond Amponsah who have all either signed for or represented Pro Clubs whilst on our scholarship programme. Keep working hard to achieve you goals!!!!
