Alfie Farris signs for Barnsley U12s
After spending 3 months from May to July with our Elite Development Squad Alfie was picked up over the summer by Barnsley, he was given the standard trial period which all pro clubs use to help them assess players properly before making decisions.
As Barnsley train on a Friday that unfortunately meant Alfie couldn’t attend our sessions but he was making up for that by training 3 times a week and playing Sundays (9 hours a week development). We were delighted for Alfie obviously and wished him well. We went to watch Alfie play against Derby county and it was quickly apparent that he was more than good enough at that level, within minutes we could see his movement and brain were working in sync with his technique and he was starting to have a big influence on the game.
After the game we informed his mum that we felt he was as good as the players they already had and would expect them to offer him a contract.
All credit to Alfie and his family, its well deserved and once again we wish him well on this part of his football journey. Our advice would be – don’t worry about making mistakes just make sure you learn from them and keep working hard to become the player we know you have the ability to become.
All the best from everyone at UFCA.
